Thanks man. It's a tough call, but I think this may be my personal favourite track I've made. =)
Edit: I need to stop saying that about multiple tracks but I keep changing my mind lol
These basses are so good mate! Well done <3
Tnx, mate :)))
If there's a Pirate X somewhere, he's probably the greatest pirate you could ever imagine. Also his theme song is pretty juicy ngl well done mate as always <3
tysm dude!
Wow that one one was really good! What I would still work on is even more ambience! It wasn't so empty but it could be filled even better. The drop also feels kinda empty. You could add some off-beat chants - that really helps the groove. The sidechain imo is a bit too hard but I guess it's just a matter of taste :). One more thing would be mixing (Volume leveling) - some sounds are too loud compared to others. I could also advise you to automate volume or low pass filter of some parts like basses in build (I guess you kinda did this but you could do it even harder, just try to play with the knobs and see what works).
Coming back to ambience, I usually like to use couple of layers, one to be like a main texture like this kinda weird thing in your background, and some other sfx that really make the ambience interesting. It can be a weird pluck, or an arp or some oneshots with or without reeverb. Try to experiment and come up with cool stuff that work for you :) you can always add like 3 different ambiences that go plain in your background, but I guess it's not as interesting as some weird stuff going on.
I would also add more risers and simply make the build go harder. As a tip i can tell you that when there's a build, it's a cool thing to decrease volume max 3db down (it dependes on the song it can be even 1db) and also make the build go mono (not to much, keep it's natural feeling) with time so when the drop hits, the automations go back to normal % and the drop just feels bigger and wider. Jay Eskar made a tutorial on build ups, you should check it out!
But what I love about this track is that you got the general idea :) The basses feel really juicy and crispy - I love them! They are really creative and suprising. Also love this granular/glitchy fx that happens I believe in the 2nd part of the song, it's really nice! <3 The rythm is extremly catchy :D
There are some things to work on, but no worries - practice makes perfect! :D
I see potential in you! :))
You out did yourself on this one! Keep it up my friend! <3
Thanks, worked about 2 and a half days on it...
I wanted to add less ambience to make the intro more glued to the drop, so it sounds like one, you know. And the buildup wasn't made that strong so that drop is louder than the buildup and exactly like in the intro, to keep it as one.
Thanks for reviewing my song, will work on my mixing ^>^
Oh man you see the ambiences does a lot! What I would also work on, is mixing - this is super important (compositon > mixing > mastering). There are many things to look at, and many ways to mix but I think it would be the best if you check some advanced people do this so what I would recommend is actually watching some tutorials. It may sound boring, but it helps a lot! I would recommend you to watch people like Jay Eskar and his tutorials (especially on mixing) and In The Mix, who makes amazing tutorials whether it's mixing, recording, plugins, etc. It's all on youtube. It will show you the way of mixing, what should you do, and other stuff. (Volume leveling is really important)
As an additional tip I can tell you that I made a phat rack for dubstep basses which helps a lot (you can make one by yourself, there are tutorials on how to do that in FL (yesss, another tutorial :D But I promise you - it really does help)). It basically makes your basses stronger and bigger and you can do that even with stock plugins in Patcher.
Another great, great, great and one more time, great plugin is OTT. You can use it on everything. Like literally everything. It makes your sound way cleaner and more present, and the best thing that it's easy to use - I usually drag Uplifter and Downlifter knobs down a bit to about 30% (or something like this, it's on the bottom of OTT), but you can also play with Depth and Out gain and these knobs that affect High, Mid and Bass frequencies. It's really easy to learn it and use it, and the good thing - it's free! Yay! Who doesn't like free stuff? :D
You can even use couple OTT's in the row if needed.
When it comes to free stuff, there's also a great plugin Valhalla Supermassive, which is a reverb plugin with a lot of weird reverbs that makes your sound way more interesting. It's harder to learn than OTT obviously, but really effective.
Keep up the good work, and if you have any questions - make sure to ask.
I'm not the best at making music I guess, but I'll try to help :)

P.S. I realised now that you wrote you used OTT - that's good, you can actually hear it, idk what I was thinking :D Good job once more! :)
Hi, thanks for your HUGE review :))
Well, I already watch sum of the tutorials you just mentioned. My biggest problem is that I cant make a good stereo-image when post-processing my basses and to make my basses sound great (I dont have Serum so this make it harder for me to make something useful), another problem is that I kinda lack inspiration for bass-rhythms. About mastering, I mostly use Ozone 9 elements because it was free for some time and I use Mastering-presets (idk if that's good tho :/). I'll check out for phat-rack for dubstep, perhaps it helps me? And looking music-tutorials actually isn't boring for me :))
Again THANKS for review, i really appreciate it!!!
Nice! :) The song feels a bit empty (you can add some ambiences/atmospheres to fill the frequencies up), but overall I like it! Keep up the good work <3
Hi, thanks for reviewing my song :))
Listened to few of your song and they gave an idea of ambience you meant, I'll try to add that to my future songs :))
Btw. great songs, your really talented
Wow mate! Love this! :O This rap is amazing, the way its mixed, the heavy drop :O I think the 808 could be a bit more brutal but you definitely smashed it! You should do some deathstep for sure!
Thank you so much! I appreciate it
